Minutes of the MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area) Working Group Meeting held on Wednesday 25 May 2022 at 8.00pm at St Andrews Community Centre, William Street, Saxilby.  

 

Present: Craig Bridge, Cllr Jackie Brockway, Cllr J Willox

Absent: Vicky Wentworth, Alina Hackney

In Attendance: Lydia Hopton, Assistant Parish Clerk

Members of the public: Trevor Brock, Elaine Meanwell

 

15 Minute Public Question Time 

Comments were made in support of facilities on the recreation ground. 

 

Meeting

22/001 To receive apologies and accept valid reasons for absence, these having been submitted to the Clerk prior to the meeting

Apologies for absence had been received from Vicki Wentworth and Alina Hackney

 

22/002 To receive Declarations of Interest in accordance with the Localism Act 2011

Cllr Willox (Saxilby cricket club player and coach) and Craig Bridge (Saxilby football clubs player and manager) declared non-registerable interests and Cllr J Willox (Ref 22/006) declared a pecuniary interest.

 

22/003 To elect a Chairman of the MUGA Working Group

Cllr Brockway proposed Craig Bridge which was resolved.

 

22/004 To elect a Vice-Chairman of the MUGA Working Group

Cllr Brockway proposed Cllr Willox and this was resolved.

 

22/005 To approve the notes of the meeting of Thursday 24 June 2021 as minutes 

It was proposed by Cllr Brockway and resolved to approve the notes of the previous meeting. The working group chair signed the minutes. 

 

22/006 To receive an update on the progress of the MUGA project

An update was received.

 

22/007 To agree recommendations for Full Council to consider on next steps based on the above update

Craig Bridge proposed and it was resolved to recommend to Full Council:

1. To withdraw the current planning application on the recreation ground due to comments submitted by Sport England 

Cllr J Willox declared a pecuniary interest in the land and did not take part in the discussion or vote. 

2. To contact local landowners either side of Mill Lane sports field to see if they would be interested in selling land to develop a MUGA 

 

The meeting closed at 9.15pm.
