Saxilby Waterfront Working Group Meeting

Present: Jane Kay, Jenny Clark, Alexia Harrison, Cllr Hillman

 

Public Question time: No members of the public present

1. To receive apologies and accept valid reasons for absence, these having been submitted to the clerk prior to the meeting. 

Apologies: Shiela Hughes

2. To receive Declarations of Interest in accordance with the Localism Act

    None declared

3. To approve the notes of the 24 November as minutes of the meeting

4. To receive an update for a design for the new Queensway bus shelter and agree recommendations to Full Council. 

Jenny Clarke proposed to consult with the sculptor James Sutton regarding two options and this was resolved:

1. Laser cut design one for the back panels with the side panels laser cut with design two and the logo in the middle back panel.

2. Laser cut design two with the logo incorporated.

5.To discuss and agree recommendations to Full Council for improvements for the planters along Bridge Street 

Alexia Harrison proposed that SWWG recommend to Full Council that £167 should be used from the budget to purchase ten new posts to go inside the planters, grit and plant lining and the small white planter was removed. This was resolved. 

6.To consider and discuss plans and visuals for the pocket park and picnic area by the landscape architect 

Cllr Hillman proposed, and it was resolved that this could be discussed at the next meeting with CRT.

7.To discuss and agree recommendations to Full Council for a letter to Anglian Water regarding the painting of the pipe bridge 

 Jane Kay proposed that SWWG recommend to Full Council that a letter should   be written to Anglian Water requesting the pipe bridge to be repainted. This was resolved.

To note an update on the:

a. Memory Tree 

In the process of being made with the completion date being mid-January   

 b. Funding applications and fund-raising ideas (Jane Kay) 

 As Winter Community Champions there is an opportunity to have a table in store to raise funds. To discuss options at next month’s meeting.

c. Footbridge including ramp and steps – maintenance and ownership 

This is on the planning committee agenda item next week with a recommendation of arranging a stakeholder meeting. 

d. Saxilby cycle path connection 

This is on the planning committee agenda next week to approve a press release regarding the lack of progress with the cycle path connection from Lincoln to Saxilby if there continues to be no progress from LCC.

e. Wildflower planting along the top towpath

 TCV are in the process of competing sowing wildflowers along the top path. 

f. A new storage facility for the volunteer day equipment

One of the public toilets been cleared ready to be used for volunteer day equipment. The Working Group would like to view the facilities to plan to move the equipment from its present storage at the old toilet block. 

g. Lincolnshire Community Champion Winter Quarter Funding

We were successful with our applications as Lincolnshire Community Champions Winter Quarter.

h.   Lincolnshire Community Lottery Funding 

     The process of how the Community Lottery worked was explained by Cllr Hillman. Posters have been printed and we need to promote this, so we have more people signed up supporting the Waterfront Regeneration.

i. Refurbishment of the public toilets looking at an environmentally friendly design by cutting down water usage and using solar lighting. 

An initial meeting to move this forward has been arranged with the parish clerk for the 10th of January. Further details will be shared next month pending a funding application.

j. Saxilby Waterfront Working Group Terms of Reference
