Help us create 2,000+ knitted & crocheted poppies for a Remembrance Day cascade from the church tower.
This year, our community is coming together to create a powerful and heartfelt tribute for Remembrance Day with a stunning cascade of over 2,000 knitted and crocheted poppies flowing from the church tower.
We are inviting everyone — whether you’re an experienced knitter, a crochet enthusiast, or a complete beginner — to help us reach this ambitious target. Each handmade poppy will form part of a vibrant display, honouring those who have served and sacrificed in conflicts past and present.
How to take part:
-
Knit or crochet a poppy using any pattern you prefer. If you need inspiration or guidance, printed patterns can be collected from M R Poole's on the High Street, or from St Botolph's Church. Alternatively, patterns such as this and this can be found online.
-
Drop off your completed poppies at St Andrews Community Centre or St Botolph's Church.
-
If you want to help but aren’t able to craft, donations of yarn and materials are also gratefully accepted.
This initiative is not only a chance to contribute to a meaningful community project but also an opportunity to reflect and remember in a creative and inclusive way.
Together, we can create a beautiful visual tribute that will resonate with all who see it this Remembrance Day.
