We’re looking for reliable caretakers to support evening and weekend bookings at our community centre. A trusted, independent role with flexible shifts, training, and a supportive team.
Evening & Weekend Cleaner Caretakers – Community Centre
(Regular or Standby roles available)
We are looking for reliable, practical people to join our small caretaking team at our community centre, supporting evening and weekend bookings.
This is a trusted, independent role, involving lone working and responsibility for opening, overseeing, and securing the building. We aim to be clear and fair about expectations, and to offer a calm, supportive working environment in return.
We expect caretakers to:
• Be reliable and punctual
• Communicate clearly about availability
• Work independently and take responsibility for the building
• Carry out basic security and cleaning checks every shift
• Be a calm, friendly but firm point of contact for hirers
In addition, caretakers may be given extra cleaning, organising, or minor maintenance tasks, depending on their individual strengths and skill set.
We value people who are good at common-sense cleaning and tidying as much as those confident with basic maintenance tasks - we do not expect one person to do everything.
In return, we offer:
• £12.65 per hour (NJC SCP2)
• A small, friendly team with supportive management
• Independence and autonomy in day-to-day work
• Regular shifts where possible, or flexible standby work if preferred
• Casual dress code (branded polo provided but not compulsory)
• First aid, fire safety, and role-specific training
• Opportunity to pick up additional hours as availability allows
Shift patterns:
• Weekday evenings typically 4.30pm – 8.30pm
• Weekend shifts between 9am – 11pm
• Options for regular weekly shifts or standby / flexible work
Local applicants encouraged.
This role can suit people at different stages of life, including those returning to work, semi-retired individuals, students, or anyone seeking responsible, independent work within a community setting. Applicants must be aged 18 or over.
