Thank you to everyone who came forward and volunteered to help out with the 2012 Mosaic Restoration project, we’re pleased to say we now have enough volunteers to allow the project to proceed.
If you came forward, we will be in touch with you again soon to confirm the dates of the workshops.
We’re pleased to be working with Nettleham based artist Janet Schooley, who has vast experience with mosaic art and is the perfect person to lead the restoration project.
On working with the council on the project, Janet said: ‘I was first contacted by the parish council before the pandemic and saw the Jubilee mosaic in situ.
Many ways to restore the mosaic were discussed, and in the end it was agreed to carry out a good clean up of the tiles themselves, removing the cement grouting that had been used and making good the backs so they will adhere to the cement boarding.
I am thrilled to be involved in this community project, enabling the mosaic to be re-sited and enjoyed by the community once more. I also help communities/schools create mosaics and run ‘do in a day’ workshops at my studio in my garden in Nettleham.’
If you’d like to know more about Janet’s work, you can view her website at: http://www.
As the project progresses we’ll provide more updates, so watch this space.
