Festival

We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along to the 2023 Saxilby Waterfront Festival on Sunday.

There was an incredible turnout throughout the day, with well over 3,000 people attending the festival, up by at least a thousand on last year’s festival.
Thankfully the weather was nice too.

We’d like to say thank you to the volunteers who gave up their time for free to organise and run the festival. Planning for the festival began in November 2022 and a small but dedicated team has worked alongside the parish council, and the council’s office staff, to make the festival a success. Without them there would have been no festival, and we thank them for their efforts.

Thank you, to those who volunteered on the day, without you, the festival could not have happened.

A big thanks must go to Daisy Boucher-Walker and Nick McDonald, our official videographer and photographer for the day. The photos Nick took throughout the day look incredible and we can’t wait to see the videos Daisy took too. We’ll be sharing festival content on Facebook throughout the coming days.

Thank you to Ian Atkinson and Mike Brown who did a brilliant job as compères for the festival, their enthusiasm with the microphones helped bring the festival to life and helped to keep everyone up to date with what was happening when throughout the day.

Thank you to all the people who provided entertainment throughout the day, from the Saxilby Scouts and Guides on the river, through to the Rock Choir, all our musicians, the African Drumming team, and everyone else in between, who all performed amazingly throughout the day and provided a wonderful soundtrack to the day.

Thank you to the stallholders and food producers who came along on the day. We hope you all had a successful day and went away with a lot less stock than you arrived with.

A final big thanks too, the sponsors of the festival: Principal sponsors Cliff Bradley and Sons and Screwfix and secondary sponsors Tfm Countrystore, Tfm hire, Lindum Group, SG Haulage and Calcul8 ltd. Without their donations the funding to make the festival run would not have been in place.

We are aware there were some traffic issues around the village during the day, mainly on Mill Lane, these will be discussed fully during the festival debrief that will take place this week.

We’re really pleased to have been able to work in partnership with so many different groups and people to help deliver this event and we hope all of you who attended throughout the day had a great day and really enjoyed it.
