Setting Up a Community Group and Applying for Funding

If you’re looking to start a new community group or apply for local funding, there are a few simple steps to take to get your group formally set up.

Step 1: Get Your Governance in Place
Before applying for grants, your group will need:
  • A constitution - this sets out what your group is for and how it will be run.
  • A  bank account - in your group's name, to receive and manage any funding.

If you're not at this stage yet, support is available.

The Voluntary Centre Services (VCS) can guide you through creating a constitution and setting up your group to make the process as simple as possible.

Step 2: Apply for Funding

Once your group is formally set up, you can start applying for local grants to help you deliver your activities or projects.

Here are some great places to start:

  • Parish Council Grants

Local community groups can apply for small grants to support projects that benefit Saxilby and Ingleby Residents. The Parish Council can also support with promoting your activities by sharing content on social media and by displaying posters around the village. Please contact admin@saxilbyparishcouncil.gov.uk for more information.
