A councillor vacancy will now be filled by co-option, as no election was requested. Eligible residents can apply by 8 January 2026 for consideration at January’s Full Council meeting.

Councillor Vacancy to Be Filled by Co-option
 
West Lindsey District Council has confirmed that an election was not requested to fill the recent councillor vacancy created by the resignation of Sadie Ashton-Derry. As a result, Saxilby with Ingleby Parish Council is required to fill the position through co-option rather than a public election.
 
The parish council is inviting applications from eligible residents, with the appointment to be made at the January Full Council meeting. To be considered, applications must be submitted by Thursday 8 January 2026.
 
Eligibility
 
To stand for co-option to a local council, applicants must meet the standard legal requirements. You must be:
 
  • A UK or Commonwealth citizen, a citizen of the Republic of Ireland, or a citizen of another EU Member State
  • Aged 18 or over
  • and able to meet at least one of the following criteria:
    • Be registered as a local government elector for the parish
    • Have occupied land or premises in the parish (as owner or tenant) for the past 12 months
    • Have your principal or only place of work within the parish for the past 12 months
    • Have lived in the parish or within three miles of its boundary for the past 12 months
 
How to Apply
 
Residents wishing to apply should complete the Co-option Application Form and submit it:

or
By delivering a paper copy to the Parish Council office (upstairs at St Andrews Community Centre)
 
All applications received by the deadline will be considered at a Full Council meeting, where councillors will vote to select the new member.
